Greener journey for Maidstone.

Green Issues.

Take up the one billion challange, this is a campaign run by the major bus and coach companies trying to get people to make one journey in 25 on a buses or coach rather than a car. This would save 2 million tonnes of CO2 and take a billion car journeys off the road causing less congestion. This is a major problem through Maidstone town centre.

Check out the web site : http://www.greener-journeys.com/

Some more bus news it has come to my attention that Arriva no longer run the bus route from Maidstone to Yalding via Tovil. It is the major form of Public Transport through this part of South Ward. Lets hope the new company look at the time table as the last Bus under the Arriva Time Table leaves Maidstone at 18:05pm. This leaves no Public transport throughout the evening to and from a major part of South Ward to Maidstone.

Also their is no Sunday service on this route which leaves people with no alternative but to take to their cars or unable to travel to Maidstone/Yalding on a Sunday. This effects small business who would need  Sunday trade and effects the enviroment with increased car journeys.

Thats enough ranting about Public Transport for today

Cycling - Check out the Dutch one day classic race Amstel Gold on Sunday 18th on Eurosport. Can the Swiss Fabian Cancellara make it 3 Pro Tour Classics in a row??  Should be a race full of thrills and spills.
