Great fight on the Alpe

Cycling - An intense battle took place in the Dauphine on the final climb to Alpe d'heuz. Two time tour de France winner Alberto Contador launched a number of stinging attacks on the final climb but could not shake overall leader Brajkovic. Contador won a sprint finish to take the stage but Brajkovic kept the overall lead and looks to have the race tied up going into today's final stage. The overall is General Classification after Stage 6

1 Janez Brajkovic (Team RadioShack) 24:26:05
2 Alberto Contador (Astana) + 1:41
3 Tejay Van Garderen (Team HTC-Columbia) + 2:41
4 Jurgen Van Den Broeck (Omega Pharma - Lotto) + 3:46
5 Nicolas Vogondy (Bbox Bouygues Telecom) + 4:01
